The Evergreen Athletic Association relies on parent volunteers just like you to coach the athletes that play sports for Evergreen. Evergreen coaches assist athletes in developing to their full potential. They are responsible for training athletes in a sport by teaching sportsmanship, analyzing performances, instructing in relevant skills and by providing encouragement. The role of the coach will be many and varied, from instructor, assessor, friend, mentor, facilitator, chauffeur, demonstrator, adviser, supporter, fact finder, motivator, counselor, organizer, and planner.
Concussion Training Information
Starting 2014 all Evergreen coaches are required to complete the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) online concussion training. HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports is a free, online course available to coaches, parents, and others helping to keep athletes safe from concussion. It features interviews with leading experts, dynamic graphics and interactive exercises, and compelling storytelling to help you recognize a concussion and know how to respond if you think that your athlete might have a concussion.

Once you complete the training and quiz, you can print out a certificate, making it easy to show your ready to coach your season.
Chesterfield County Coaches Background Check
As part of the responsibility of being a coach and to provide the best protection for our athletes you must go through a background check process, which includes fingerprinting. Once cleared you will receive a coaches card that must be displayed at sporting events. PLAN AHEAD, YOU WILL NEED THIS CARD AT YOUR FIRST GAME.
