#VEGA LUV

Jonathan Vega wore many hats in his lifetime: Coach, Director, Mentor, Father, Father-Figure, Husband, Brother, and Friend. Anyone who had the fortune to cross his path could see he embodied all these roles with dedication and heart.

He was compassionate and kind and took the time to listen to everyone. He was active in his community (of North Chesterfield). He was heavily involved in the football and basketball programs at Evergreen Elementary, sometimes even coaching more than one team.

Coach Vega frequently invested additional time, resources, and countless sleepless nights into enhancing our basketball and football programs during his tenure with our association.

In April of 2024, we all unexpectedly lost Coach Vega to a health-related illness. His legacy is cherished daily for his profound contributions to our sports organization, the treasured memories we share, the countless lives he impacted, the hashtag on our new basketball jerseys, and the wonderful Vega family we have come to know and love.

This March of 2025, to honor his memory and legacy, The EAA will award our first “Love Like Vega Sportsmanship Award” at Evergreen’s End of the Season Basketball Awards Party. (Credit: Amanda Nichole)
